Argentina captain Lionel Messi beat Neymar and other top strikers to win the 2021 Copa America Golden Boot accolade.
The Barcelona forward finished the tournament with four goals, the same as Colombia’s Luis Díaz, but his five assists could not be matched.
Messi failed to influence the final game at the Maracana Stadium, but they fought as a team for long periods and eventually won 1-0 courtesy of an Angel di Maria goal mid-way through the first half.
Meanwhile, Messi’s former teammate at Barcelona, Neymar, who was the star of the tournament finished on two goals.
