Hearts of Oak captain Fatawu Mohammed has appealed to the club’s management to keep the current players.
Hearts of Oak won the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League title for the first time in twelve years and will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League.
Since winning the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup in 2000 and 2004 respectively, the rainbow boys have struggled to make a case for themselves in Africa inter-club competitions due to poor player recruitment and transfer policies.
And according to Fatawu, Hearts can return to winning ways in the CAF Champions League should they maintain the current team.
“For me, Management should maintain this squad because winning the league means we are not a bad squad. Each of the boys played their heart out so I won’t be surprised if they maintain this squad for next season and the champions league,” he said in an exclusive interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
The former Real Tamale United (RTU) player made 26 appearances for the league winners with seven assists in all competitions.
