Veteran French striker Karim Benzema has become the latest footballer to get caught by the COVID-19 virus.
La Liga giants Real Madrid announced that the 33-year-old Benzema has failed his COVID-19 test after returning from extended vacation following his time with the France national team at the 2020 Euros between June and earlier this month.
“Real Madrid C. F. confirm that our player Karim Benzema has tested positive for COVID-19,” the club’s succinct statement said on its website.
Meanwhile, Benzema will enter self-isolation as his teammates face Scottish giants Rangers FC on Sunday.
