Paralympic Committee of Ghana President Meets Mayor of Luton ahead of 2022 Common Wealth games in Birmingham

The Commonwealth Games take place every four years – and, this year, it will be happening on the Birmingham in United Kingdom

It will take place from 28th July to 8th August 2022

You might remember the last time the Commonwealth Games happened, as it was held in 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia.

The event was first held in Hamilton, Canada in 1930, when 11 countries sent a total of 400 athletes to take part.

Fast-forward to Gold Coast in 2018 and more than 5000 athletes from 71 nations competed in 17 sports over 11 days. So you can see how much the games have grown since they started.

The President of National Paralympic Committee of Ghana Mr. Sampson Deen has visited the Mayor of Luton ahead of 2022 Commonwealth games in Birmingham.

The Mayor gave the team good reception and assured the President of Luton’s readiness to host the Paralympic team of Ghana ahead of the games in Birmingham next year.

His quote:’Luton is a hospitable place, has people of many ethnic groups and languages and as such can easily co-exist with the Ghana delegation who will be based in Luton to prepare for the games’.Cllr Maria Lovell,a former Mayor of Luton who is of Ghanaian descent said she hoped the co operation between the two parties will go a long way to help develop and sell Paralympics in Ghana and Luton as well as the United Kingdom.

After the meeting with the Mayor of Luton, the President of the national Paralympic Committee of Ghana, Mr Samson Deen with his delegation visited the Inspire Luton sports village where the Paralympic team will train during their stay in Luton ahead of the games and was convinced the facilities available were enough to help the athletes to prepare for the games.

The president of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, Mr Samson Deen as full of praise for the Mayor for the warm reception given to his delegation.

Quote’My team from Ghana is overwhelmed with the warm reception given to us by the Mayor of Luton and I hope this relationship will be a long standing one for the benefit of both parties “. A Seasoned Sports Journalist Rockson Adjei-Yeboah of Fox FM, and other Sports gurus ,with the likes of Patrick Osei Agyeman of Asempa Fm, Saddiq Adams Obama of Angel FM and Owuraku Amofa of Joy FM were part of the delegation to Luton for the Mayor’s meeting with the president of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana.
