Ghana’s defensive pair, Daniel Amartey and Alexander Djiku excelled in the team’s 1-0 win against Ethiopia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday, September 3.
Mubarak Wakaso’s first-half strike earned the Black Stars a vital victory to kick start the qualifying round on a good note.
Although the home side won, the team was not dominant as many anticipated. Hence, on a team level, it is safe to say the Black Stars were average but players like Andy Yiadom, Baba Idrissu, and Alexander Djiku had a decent night together with Amartey.
Following the win, Ghana goes top of Group G as the only side to record a win in the first round. They will play as visitors against South Africa on Monday.
