Ghana’s Edmund Addo produces masterclass as Sheriff Tiraspol upset Real Madrid at Bernabeu

Edmund Addo was fantastic throughout 90 minutes for Sheriff Tiraspol as they stunned Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid after early domination found themselves a goal down in the 25th minute, Jasurbek Yakhshiboev leaped the highest to head in a precise cross from Cristiano.

Real Madrid continued to dominate the game but were denied by the resolute Sheriff defense that was shielded by Edmund Addo.

In the 65th minute, Edmund Addo had his heart in his mouth after VAR called for a review of a foul he made on Vinicius in the box. Madrid were eventually awarded a penalty and skipper Karim Benzema stepped up to score.

The game looked like it was ending in a draw but Sebastien Thill snatched victory for Tiraspol with a stunning final-minute strike.

The victory leaves minnows Sheriff Tiraspol top of the group D with 6 points after two games.

For Edmund Addo, it was another day to demonstrate why he needs to be in the Black Stars team.
