CAF women champions league group stage will kick off on November 5, 2021, in Egypt with two venues set to host the two-group tournament. Eight women teams, each from the six CAF zones and another from the host country and the last from the zone that has the last champion of the CAF Women Cup of Nations.
Ghana’s Hassacas Ladies who conquered West Africa Zone B are together in the tournament alongside Nigerian side Rivers Angels who were runners-up in the zonal championship. Also representing from West Africa Zone A are AS Mande from Mali.
Malabo Kings represent the Central Zone, Vhiga Queens of Kenya are in for the East Zone and Asfar Club of Morroco representing the Northern Zone. The rest are Mamelodi Sundowns from COSAFA and Wadi Degla from the host nation, Egypt.
The two groups will be hosted at the 30 June Stadium and Military Academy Stadium both in Cairo. Group A, consisting of Wadi Degla, Malabo Kings, Hassacas Ladies and Asfar Club will be at the 30 June Stadium. Wadi Degla will host AS Mande in the group tournament curtain-raiser on November 5, 2021, at 16:00 GMT before Malabo Kings and Hassacas Ladies square off three hours later at 19:00 GMT.
Wadi and Malabo Kings will take on each other in the second-round match on November 8, before Hassacas and AS Mande face-off three hours later at 19:00 hours GMT. Hassacas Ladies will play their final group match against Wadi Degla in a late afternoon kick-off and AS Mande will host Malabo Kings later in the day to conclude Group A actions.
At the Miltary Academy Stadium, Group B will be opened with a clash between Vihiga Queens and Mamelodi Sundowns on November 6 in a late afternoon kick-off with Asfar and Rivers Angels concluding day one business in that group.
Vihiga and Asfar will have a late afternoon kick-off on day two in group B and Rivers will take on Sundowns in the other fixture. The group will be concluded with matches between Rivers Angels and Vihiga Queens and Sundowns versus Asfar Club.
The winner of Group A will take on the runner-up in Group in the first semi-final match on November 15 and the second semi-final match will be contested between Group B winner and Group A runner-up on the same day, also at the 30 June Stadium.
A third-place play-off will take place between the losers in the semi-finals on November 18 ahead of the final on Friday, November 19.
