Former Liberty Professionals midfielder Kennedy Ashia is close to joining Ashantigold in the ongoing transfer window, Ghanasportspage.com can exclusively report.
Ghanasportspage understands that AshantiGold has sealed an agreement in principle with Ashia and he is expected to arrive in Obuasi to conclude negotiations on his terms and undergo a mandatory medical next week.
The 2013 bronze-winning Ghana U-20 squad member will pen a two-year deal with the Miners.
He was a key player for Liberty in 2013 and established himself as one of the best midfielders on the local scene. He is known for linking the play between defence and attack.
The 27-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Ashgold in 2015 before his loan move to Norwegian side SK Brann where he failed to land a permanent deal. However, he snubbed the chance to avoid hatred should he choose one of them.
Ashia has had short stints with Al Hilal Omdurman in Sudan and AC Tripoli in Lebanon.
Ashia played for Sidama Coffee in the 2017/2018 season in the Ethiopian top-flight before heading to Welwalo Adigrat University FC where he was released in 2019 and has been free agent since.
