With Asante Kotoko on a training tour of the United Arab Emirates following plans by the club to move away from pressure back home and have a peaceful pre-season, players of Asante Kotoko are said to be responding to the training regimen so far.
Almost all the players on the roll of Kotoko are in Dubai and have been under the tuition of Prosper Ogum. The few players who were left behind are also being united with the club.
Two of such players Solomon Sarfo Taylor and Stephen Amankona landed at the Kotoko training camp this morning with loud cheers from colleagues. The two left Accra last night and were received by the leaders of the team in the morning.
Ghanasportspage.com picked the information from the team camp that the two were not allowed to join the team in training in the morning as they needed to rest. They will however train for the first time this evening, which will also be used to baptize Stephen Amankona following his late signing by Kotoko.
Solomon Sarfo Taylor travelled outside the country during the season break and arrived later in Ghana after Prosper Ogum Nartey was announced as Kotoko coach. Amankona also joined
Kotoko from Chelsea after the team flew to Dubai thus had not had the chance to train with his new colleagues and the technical team.
This evenings training will be the first for the two players in Dubai. Amankona is later expected to go through the usual ponding and dancing used to initiate new members into the squad, under strict observation of new skipper Abdul Ganiu. Taylor and Amankona are expected to fight neck in neck for the striking options of Kotoko in the upcoming season and the pair seem to already bond together as they were seen in good terms before leaving the Kotoka International Airport.
