Savannah Ladies FC and Dreamz Ladies FC have both qualified to play in next season’s Women’s Premier League  after  finishing 1st and 2nd in the Regional Zonal Championship playoff for the Northern Zone.

Savannah ladies finished top of the table after winning our their matches in the playoffs while Ashanti Region based Dreamz Ladies FC secured 12 points after losing only to the table toppers.

In the Southern sector, Faith Ladies FC, Army Ladies FC and Essiam Socrates FC all secured 12 points at the end of the zonal playoffs.

Consequently, a three-way head to head table was drawn for the three clubs in accordance with Article 4(4)(a &b).

Article 4(4) (a & b):

If two or more teams obtain the same number of points at the end of the competition for the first or second position, their ranking shall be determined as follows and in the stated order: (a) Greater number of points obtained in matches between the teams concerned during the competition.

(b) Goal difference resulting from the match(es) between the teams concerned during the competition.

Per the three-way league table and the head-t0-head regulations, Faith Ladies FC and Army Ladies FC have both qualified to play in next season’s Women’s Premier League as first and second placed respectively.

Below is the three-way league table for the Three teams who secured 12 points each at the end of the zonal playoffs:

The final round of matches in the Southern Zone playoffs saw the teams showing  class with some dilatable football at the McDan Park at La.

Army Ladies and Anlo Ladies got us underway in the first game of the final day and the Army stalwarts didn’t disappoint as they beat their opponents 2-0. The Ladies in green were presented with the first chance in the 32nd minute and Cynthia Okine made no mistake than to slot home for the opener.

Anlo pressed for an equaliser but shot stopper, Rosemary Acheampong denied them on countless occasions.

Elizabeth Adoma scored the second goal for Army Ladies right before the final whistle in the 92nd minute to give them a 2:0 cushioning but it wasn’t enough to secure them a place in next seasons WPL.

The second game of the day was between Faith Ladies and whipping girls Basake Holy Royals who are yet to win a match in the competition. Faith Ladies proved too strong for their opponents but a mistake from Alice Longdon at the defence gave Sarah Armah the opportunity to give Basake Holy Royals the lead in the 3rd minute.

That didn’t take long as Alive Longdon redeemed herself by equalising in the 6th minute to draw Faith Ladies level

Alice scored her second in the 32nd minute to give Faith ladies the lead. Jennifer Kankam, Abigail Ewusibea and Alexander Ama recorded their name on the score sheet before halftime.

After recess, five players of Basake Holy Royals were injured and stretched off the field as the referee ended the match abruptly in the 55th minute because the players of Baseke Holy Royals were not up to the number (7) required by the laws to continue the game. The match ended 5:1 in favour of Faith Ladies

The final match of the day was between Valued girls and Essiam Socrates Ladies who were on 9 points each looking for qualification. The game started on an exciting note with both sides clearly demonstrating that they were in no mood to mess up.

The first opportunity came the way of Essiam Socrates Ladies, when Fredericka Kai Addico beat her markers and had goalkeeper of Valued girls, Comfort Amoah at her mercy and shot into the right corner to give her side the lead in the 32nd minute.

Yaa Serwaa Agyemang extended the lead for Essiam Socrates right after recess. This made valued girls despair as they conceded another 5 goals within 25 minutes into the second half as the match eventually ended 7:0 in favor of Essiam Socrates. Yaa Serwaa Agyemang scored a brace, Fredericka Kai Addico scored a haul and Helen Amorlenu with the 7th goal.

This result sees Faith Ladies and Essiam Socrates qualify from the Southern Zone to next season’s Women’s Premier League.
