Week 3 of the Ghana Premier League was cleared from Friday to Sunday with some spectacular performances from some clubs while others continue to surprise even themselves with their abysmal performance.

Asante Kotoko once again did what they started from Day 1 in the 2021-2022 Ghana premier league. They moved to 9 points on the league table with yet another 3points on Friday by beating Bibiani Gold stars by a goal to nothing kind courtesy of a spectacular curled strike from the young sensation Isaac Oppong ‘Neymar’ in the second half which stayed till the end of the match.

Isaac Oppong has been involved in 5 of the 6 Kotoko goals this season with 2 goals, 2 assists, and has won a penalty for the club.
The club is currently on top of the league log with 9 points alongside King Faisal, while Bibiani Gold stars are 9th on the table.

On Saturday, Dreams Fc welcomed Accra lions at their home grounds and walloped them by 3 goals to 1. Goals from Ali Huzaf on the 12min, Agyenim Boateng on the 20th and 74th minutes secured the win for the home side as Rauf Salifu pulled one back for the visitors. Dreams are currently in the 5th position while Accra Lions is in the relegation zone at 17th position.

Legon Cities Hosted Accra Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium and lost by a goal to nil with the goal scored by Maxwell Quaye on the 20th minute which was enough for the away side to grab a win. Oly is now 3rd on the league log while Legon cities are in 8th position.
At the Nana Gyeabour Park, Bechem United welcomed Elmina Sharks and beat them by 2 goals to nothing with both goals in the second half from Dasi Obuoba Yaw and Francis Twene on the 61st and 80th minutes respectively. Bechem is now occupying the 4th position.
Eleven wonders and Medeama shared the glory as the match ended goalless. Wonders are on the 12th position and Medeama on the 14th as they failed to win once again.
Accra Hearts of Oak is yet to register a win in this year’s league as again they drew 1:1 to Aduana Stars. Aduana who had a shocking home defeat to King Faisal last week came back stronger to secure a point at the Accra sports stadium as their 79th goal from a spot-kick by Bright Adjei helped to cancel an early lead taken by Hearts through their striker Kofi Kordzi. Hearts is now on the 11th position with just 3points from 3 games and Aduana on the 13th position.

Karela managed to put 2 goals behind Berekum Chelsea this afternoon when Chelsea took an early lead through Bright Amponsah on the 8th minute,Umar Bashiru equalized from a spot kick on the 30 minute and Darlington Gyanfosu grabbing the winning goal for Karela who are 6th on the league log and Chelsea 15th.

King Faisal is in a form of their life, they managed to put 2 unanswered goals past Ashanti Gold in the Ashanti derby. Faisal has yet to lose a match this season and on 2nd position on the log with 9points. Two second-half goals from Ibrahim Osman and Enoch Morison helped Alhaji Grunsah’s boys to maintain their 100% win rate this season. Ashgold currently lies 10th on the league table.

Real Tamale United welcomed WAFA at the Aliu Mahama Sports stadium and beat them by 2 goals to nil, Goals from informed striker David Sandan Abagna on the 12th and 79th minutes were enough for the Tamale lads to secure a home win. R.T.U lies 7th on the league log and WAFA on the 16th.

It is the poor form of the defending champions Hearts which continues to draw topical discussions, same as WAFA who seem to be feeling the heat over the departure of Prosper Ogum to Asante Kotoko. Elmina Sharks seem to be committing a sporting suicide, just like Medeama, and should their fortunes fail to change, then the matches ahead will see more heads rolling.

Another issue capturing the attention of fans is how the Most Valuable Player is selected. Lots of discussions are going on with lots of pundits and fans complaining about how the best players are selected after matches. Surely this is an issue that will be revisited soon, as eyes are gazing at the organizers for them to right the wrongs.
