Head coach of Hasacass Ladies, Yussif Basigi has explained why his side lost to South African club Mamelodi Sundowns in the finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League maiden edition.
Hasacass Ladies were in a superb and scintillating form at the entire tournament despite failing to achieve the ultimate.
They were defeated by the South African’s by 2 goals to nil following their semi-final 2-1 victory over ASFAR Rabat of Morocco.
Yussif Basigi insists exerting more energy during their game against ASFAR in the semi-finals affected them to concede a defeat in the finals.
“They were not under pressure but I will say the finals is the semi-finals we played against ASFAR. Honestly speaking, it is one of the clubs I respected so much in the competition because the entire team involves 15 national team players and we exerted a lot of energy playing against them especially in the second half because we don’t see the need to drop from semi-finals and it was our aim to get to the finals and then the ultimate and for that matter we needed to work hard to reach our destination. We exerted more effort and it drained our ladies.
“Honestly, the finals should have been the Moroccan side and Hasacass. They are a very good side. Playing against them decreased our tempo so I didn’t blame them. Even we did not train in the following day but I allowed them to sleep and it was a surprise that they did not go for their breakfast the next morning because they were tired.” He concluded.
