Carabao Cup: Thomas Partey sent off as Diogo Jota brace sent the Reds to Wembley

Thomas Partey was the first foreign-based player to leave the camp of the Black Stars following their early exit from the AFCON and embarrassment.

The midfielder booked for a direct flight straight from Cameroon after the shocking 3-2 defeat to Comoros on Tuesday evening.

Partey came in as a substitute for Emile Smith Rowe during the 74th minute but the 28-year old was sent off after receiving a second yellow at the last minute of the game.

He received his first in the 87th minute, before being given his marching orders for a poor challenge moments on Fabinho later.

Arsenal failed to advance to the finals of the Carabao Cup following Diogo Jota’s brace that has secured Liverpool a place in the final.

Diogo Jota scored Liverpool’s first goal of the game during the 19th minute and helped the Reds to a comfortable 2-0 lead at the 77th minute.

The Portuguese international scored all two goals through Trent Alexander-Alnod’s brace of assists.

Liverpool will face Chelsea at the finals to be staged in Wembley Sports Stadium on 27th February.
