The National Sports Authority (NSA) has directed the Ghana Football Association to choose a different venue for the FIFA World Cup playoff qualifier encounter against the Super Eagles of Nigeria which is scheduled between 24th and 29th March 2022.
The Director-General of the National Sports Authority Prof. Twumasi Peter has written to the Ghana Football Association to host the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a different venue.
“I (NSA Boss) respectfully write to inform you of the decision by the State Protocol at the Jubilee House to hold this year’s Independence Anniversary Celebration at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on 6th March 2022.
“By this letter, the Ghana Football Association is accordingly informed of this decision and advised to resort to other venues preferably Baba Yara or Accra Sports Stadium for the match, 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff qualifier between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria”.
According to the National Sports Authority (NSA), the Cape Coast Sports Stadium will be closed down to sporting activities to enable exterior and beautification works to be done for the Commemoration.
Ghana was paired against fellow West Africans, Nigeria to face off in a battle for one of Africa’s five tickets for the 2022 World Cup Finals in Qatar between 24-29th March 2022.
