Club president and owner of Ghana second tier football club, New Edubiase United, Abdul Salam Yakubu has put up the club on sale out of what seems to be frustrations at what appears to be an accumulation of unfair treatments to him in the football circle.
The seasoned football administrator is said to have announced the sale of his club New Edubiase United via his official personal Facebook account on Sunday, following an incident which reportedly ensued in a the Division One league match between New Edubiase United and Bekwai Youth Football Academy (BYFA) on Sunday. In a video circulating on social media, sighted by ghanasportspage.com, Abdul Salam Yakubu allegedly got angry at match officials for disallowing a goal his club scored against BYFA, and violently chased the match official in demand for answers.
It is unclear whether that incident, which is by itself, subject to substantiation contributed to Abdul Salam’s decision to sell his club, if proven to be official. The game between New Edubiase United and BYFA ended ubruptly on Sunday afternoon.
In the screenshot Facebook post announcing the sale of the Division One League zone two side, Edubiase, the publisher of the news sounded completely frustrated and embittered.
“New Edubiase United is up for sale at a very low price”, the post begun. “All you need is to manage the welfare of the players very well. I think I’ve done my best in Ghana football”, he announced.
The post continued to elaborate reasons behind the decision to sell the club, though not too specific as who the accusing fingers are being directed.
“The passion I have for football is dead. For two seasons now I have been particularly sidelined for everything poor in the football system. Its very sad. I have been mute for sometime hoping there is a change but it seems there won’t be any and if care is not taken I could harbor a sickness and things might be worse”, he complained.
New Edubiase United play in the zone two of the Ghana second tier side (Division One) league. They are currently 2nd on the Division One league zone two table with 23 points after 11 matches in the ongoing 2021/2022 football season.
