After helping Senegal to lift their maiden AFCON title last night, Liverpool star Sadio Mane has expressed his feelings and the difference between the AFCON title and other trophies.
Senegal defeated eight-time champions Egypt in Cameroon to be crowned as the champions of the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Liverpool man saw a penalty saved by Egypt goalkeeper Gabaski in the opening minutes of the final but stepped back up to put away the winning kick in the match-deciding penalty shoot-out.
The Terenga Lions went to the finals of last edition’s tournament but they lost by a goal to nil to Algeria.
The Liverpool forward was honored with the player of the tournament award.
Sadio Mane has won the EPL title, UCL, and the FIFA Club World Cup but he believes that the AFCON is the best and number one.
“The AFCON is the best trophy I would ever win in my life. I have won many trophies but this one is number one. Because it is the first time for my country is more important than anything”.
