Zone Two leaders Samartex 1996 suffered their first defeat of the season in midweek as they lost 1-0 to Sekondi Hasaacas at the Gyandu Park – bringing to an end a 12 match unbeaten run. The Sameraboi lads had drawn three and won 8 of their matches to set the longest winning run in the entire second tier competition.
Abeiku Ainooson headed home the match winner inside 31 minutes to give Sekondi Hasaacas obnly their fourth win of the season as they inflicted an excruciating defeat on Samartex.
The League leaders are expected to recover from the setback on Match Day 14 when they take on Future Stars at home. Samartex FC have won 9, drawn 3 and lost one and lead the table with 30 points – 3 points ahead of second placed New Edubiase and 4 points richer than Ebusua Dwarfs who are in third place.
The Sameraboi side will aim for a win against Future Stars. The newly promotional side are 10th in the table with 17 points having picked 5 wins, 6 defeats and two draws in the on-going League. They are 13 points adrift of the top and seeking to maintain their status in the second tier after gaining promotion only this season.
A win for Samartex will further tighten their grip at the top of the table but Future Stars won’t come cheap despite their inconsistent away record in the League.
Second placed New Edubiase United who beat Pacific Heroes in midweek will play as guest of Soccer Intellectuals at the Adu Assasan Park at Ajumako on Sunday.
Title chasers Ebusua Dwarfs recorded a 2-1 win over Unistar Academy to continue their surge in the League table – four points off the top and would aim to continue their winning run but at a very difficult ground as they travel to the St. Martins at Daboase to play Skyy FC.
In other matches, Bekwai Youth Football Academy will play at home against Holy Stars Soccer Intellectuals while Sekondi Hasaacas tackle Achiken at the Asin Fosu Park on Sunday.
