The biggest club football fixture on the calendar of Ghana football is all set to whet the appetite of followers of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) across the globe with blockbuster clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the capital, and coach Samuel Boadu has made clear the intentions of his side going into the only category ‘A’ club football match in the country.
Defending league champions Accra Hearts of Oak will host their ever rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday, 20th February, 2022 at the Accra sports stadium for a rescheduled Match Day 7 fixture. The Phobians were scheduled to play against Asante Kotoko on the 12th December, 2021, but the game was postponed due to the itinerary of Hearts of Oak in respect of the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup play-off tie against JS Saoura.
Now the road has been cleared and all is set for the long awaited fixture to come off on Sunday, February 20. Speaking to the media after Hearts of Oak drew 0-0 with RTU in Tamale on Sunday afternoon, Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu indicated that his side are confident going into the game against Asante Kotoko, and they are unperturbed of whoever is their opponent.
“Absolute [the result against RTU gives us confidence]. We don’t care whoever we are playing with, it’s a competition. We are competing with all the clubs, so I think we correct our mistakes and we work extra hard to play the Kotoko match”, Boadu said.
