Dreams Football Club recorded a vital win over Medeama Sporting Club at the Tarkwa Akoon Park on Monday in the Ghana Premier League match day 17 clash between the two sides.
The win by Dreams FC handed Medeama SC their second successive defeats after they were beaten by a lone goal by Accra Lions in Accra a week a go. Coach Umar Abdul Rabi’s side went into the rescheduled encounter with high hopes of ending the first round of the league on a high in front of their fans, following their loss to Accra Lions in their last outing, but Dreams FC proved too strong to be walked over.
The was originally scheduled to played on Sunday afternoon at the same venue, but a heavy downpour in early hours of the day, flooding the Akoon Park pitch which compelled the referee to postpone the match to today.
Home side Medeama started the game on a high note, dictating the pace of the game. The Yellow and Mauve came close to finding the back of the visitor’s net as early as the 10th minute, when they unsuccessfully tried penetrating the defence of the visitors. The narratives changed and the visitors took over the the game, dominating play until the 30th minute when Sylvester Simba stuck to give the visitors the lead.
Medeama responded to the goal they had conceded with much urgency in front of goal which nearly got the the equalizer. Nortey dribbled past the goalkeeper of Dreams in the 38th minute to unleash a shot into what was then an empty net, but his efforts fell on rocks as the ball met a timely clearance off the line by a Dreams FC defender. The two sides settled for a 1-0 scoreline in favour of the visitors as they head into the tunnel for the half time break.
The exchanges were up with a high intensity in the second half, but Dreams FC were quiet resolute at the back, which prevented the home side from creating any much decent chances, and the game ended 1-0 with the visitors returning to Dawu with all three points in their bag.
