The Super Clash may be over but not the post match reactions, discussions, criticisms, reviews among others as behind the scenes issues and minor details of the game that happened on the field of play that may have escaped the attention of spectators begin to come to the fore.
Among the numerous confrontations on the field of play during the big game between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko involving players and match officials, and notable among these confrontations was that been Hearts of Oak forward Kofi Kordzi and Assistant Referee 1 on the day, Patrick Papala.
The Hearts of Oak was introduced in the game in the 76th minute in the Sunday encounter when when he came on for Daniel Afriyie Barnie with the aim of joining forces with Obeng Junior upfront to find the back of the net for the Phobians, but the Porcupine Warriors simply wouldn’t allow themselves.
In one of his efforts to penetrate the defence of Asante Kotoko, referee Patrick Papala’s flag went up for what he judges to be an infringement against Kofi Kordzi, but the former Muaither Sports Club forward would have no reason to agree with Papapala, who, on a lighter note, happens to be of same tribe as Kordzi.
Kordzi indignantly rushed on the Assistant referee to register his displeasure in a desperate manner, having lost his temper, but, in accordance with the laws of the game, Law 5, the referee’s decision is ‘final’. The game ended goalless.
On Monday, February 21, 2022, the duo have decided to continue the interaction on social media, with referee Papala starting the conversation with a much more fun and hilarious post, featuring pictures of the scene between himself and Kordzi, creating humor out of the situation in a lovely manner. The Hearts of Oak striker actually returned the fun in a much more interesting style.
“Kofi, No pressure. Just relax and watch it happen. Kofi would have beaten me paa ooo, if not for professional football”, referee Papala wrote via his social media account.
In his response, Kordzi created more fun. “Replying to @PapalaPatrick1@GhanaLeague and @ghanafaofficialNo pressure bro lol.”
Then came back referee Papala, saying, “Is all for the beauty of the game.”
