The Technical team of the Ghana Women’s U-17 national team headed by coach Baba Nuhu has chosen captain and vice captains of the team as they prepare for the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Georgina Ayisha Aoyem of the Ghana Women’s Premier League (GWPL) side Pearlpia Ladies has been named the captain of Ghana’s U-17 women’s national team, the Black Maidens, and is expected to lead the team throughout the qualifiers and the tournament proper which will be staged in India later this year.
Describing the Pearlpia Ladies star’s qualities and reasons for choosing her, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said the midfielder is “embodiment of discipline, self-respect, confidence and humble throughout the teams camping in Prampram”. The federation also stated in its announcement on Monday, that the Georgina was named captain of the team considering the fact the “She is an excellent communicator and has over the period built a strong relationship with her teammates”.
Georgina Ayisha Aoyem will be deputized by Nancy Amoh who plays for Supreme Ladies in the GWPL as 1st Vice captain, while Agnes Yeboah of Combined Forces functions as 2nd Vice Captain.
In addition to the three, Zuleiha Fuseini of Pearlpia Ladies has been named General Captain of the team, and, according to the FA, “will be responsible for all activities of the playing body on and off the pitch with assistance from Stella Nyamekye of Kumasi-based Dreamz Ladies”.
The Black Maidens will travel to Dakar to play against Senegal on March 5, 2022 in the qualifiers.
