In a quick response to media speculations on midfielder Sulley Muntari’s exclusion from Hearts of Oak squad to face Aduana Stars on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League match day 20, the club has issued an official statement to clear the air on the reasons behind the decisions, and has as well taken the opportunity to give updates on the medical situations of midfield dynamo, Ibrahim Salifu.
In its brief statement, Hearts of Oak confirmed the earlier report by ghanasportspage.com that Muntari’s exclusion from the squad list to Dormaa was not the player’s personal decision, but that of the technical team based on medical advice from team doctors.
“The decision to exempt Sulley Ali Muntari from the game against Aduana Stars is based on medical advice after he picked a knock in our previous game and not his personal decision as is being speculated”, Hearts of Oak said in a statement on Friday.
On Salifu Ibrahim, the club once again confirmed the earlier reports by ghanasportspage.com that confirmed that midfielder Ibrahim Salifu had begun light training, expected to start ball work on Thursday, 10 March.
Hearts of Oak’s statement read, “Ibrahim Salifu is still under medical observation. He has started light training works”. We also reported last week, that Daniel Kordie, who has been out of action for months due to injury, had returned to training, and this has also been confirmed by the club.
