Ghana’s all time scorer, Asamoah Gyan has apologised for using indecent language in his reaction to the omission of Majeed Ashimeru from the final 27-man squad of Ghana for the World Cup play-off against Nigeria, but insists on the substance of his message.

The former Ghana captain took to Twitter to register his displeasure about Ashimeru’s absence in the Ghana squad, and resorted to the use of an indecent language as he goes emotional about the decision of the interim technical team of the Black Stars, spearheaded by former international, Otto Addo.

Gyan tweeted earlier on Tuesday morning:

However, the former Udinese, Sunderland forward later deleted the tweet and tweeted again to withdraw the word ”nonsense’ he used in his earlier post, but stuck to the substance of his complaint, which is – Majeed Ashimeru deserves a place in the Ghana squad. He described the Anderlecht man as the best midfielder for Ghana after Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, and that there is no justification for his omission from Otto Addo’s 27-man squad for the double header against Nigeria.

“I still insist that Ashimeru deserves to be in this current Black Stars BUT am sorry for using the word “ Nonsense “ in my statement so I unreservedly withdraw that word , I was carried by my emotions . Go Ghana”, he tweeted.

Ashimeru has been in impressive form for the Belgian side this term, having has scored three goals and provided three assists in his last 31 league appearances for RSC Anderlecht.
