The Technical Director for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Augustine Eguavoen has said his side can’t afford to slip when they play Ghana in the upcoming World Cup play-offs.
The Super Eagles will face the Black on March 25, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the first leg before the second leg clash in Abuja.
Speaking ahead of the make-or-break clash, the Nigerian gaffer stated that his boys are ready to eliminate Ghana and secure a place at the World Cup in Qatar.
“At this point in time we are going to try to eliminate Ghana from the play-offs and then they can wait and prepare for the other one but it’s not so easy because Ghana is a good team but we will try to fight them because is only one team to join.” Eguavoen told Ghanasportspage.com
“We are not expecting Ghana to lie down to be beaten, and they will try to win but I’m a Nigerian, we will benefit if we go to the World Cup and hopefully that is exactly what we are waiting.” He ended.
The Super Eagles are hoping to unleash their AFCON anger on Ghana following their shocking exit from the recent nations cup after a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia. The Nigeria senior national soccer team, led by Eguavoen was the only side to win all their matches at the group stage in the AFCON tournament held in Cameroon.
