Following the injury of Black Stars midfielder Edmund Addo and his subsequent omission from the squad for the Friday’s World Cup play-off against Nigeria, fans of Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak have intensified their call on the technical handlers of the Black Stars to extend late call up for Mudasiru Salifu or Abdul Aziz Nurudeen as replacement.
Fans of Asante Kotoko want the Porcupine Warriors’ midfielder Mudasiru Salifu called into the Black Stars squad to replace the injured Edmund Addo. They believe, that the decision not to include any player from Asante Kotoko in the 27-man Ghana squad for the double header against Nigeria is unfair to the club, considering the fact that Asante Kotoko are the current leaders of the domestic league.
They have taken to social media to urged Otto Addo and his backroom staff to hand call ups to Mudasiru to replace Edmund, as they are convinced that Mudasiru deserves that treat.
The fans of Accra Hearts of Oak on the other side of the coin, have been calling for a call up to be handed to their club’s midfielder, Abdul Aziz Nurudeen, who has been very impressive just as Asante Kotoko’s Mudasiru this season.
However, ghanasportspage.com has learnt, according to reports, that the Technical team of the Black Stars have decided not to call for a replacement for Edmund Addo for the match on Friday which is just hours away, as the they believe that the time is too close, and calling up a new player into the team at the moment may distort concentration in camp.
According to unconfirmed reports, the Technical Team will decide whether to have a replacement for Edmund Addo or not, after the first leg against Nigeria tomorrow.
The Black Stars interim head coach Otto Addo will address the press at the pre-match conference at 4:00pm this afternoon at the Baba Yara sports stadium, and he is expected to respond to this situation ahead of the match on Friday.
The Black Stars will take on the Super Eagles in the first leg of the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup play-off on Friday, 25 March, 2022 at 7:30pm local time.
