Black Stars forward Daniel-Kofi Kyere sat out the team’s last training session on Thursday ahead of Friday’s 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup play-off against Nigeria at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi.
The 26-year old FC St. Pauli star picked up a slight knock during the team’s training on Thursday evening at the Baba Yara stadium, and was advised to excuse himself from the training session on Thursday as a precautionary measure.
The gravity of the knock is unclear, but the attacker looks set to play a part in the game against the Super Eagles on Friday evening. Ghana’s attacking force received a little boost with the recovery of Jordan Ayew after he had earlier tested positive for covid-19. The Crystal Palace forward was present at the training grounds on Thursday, but didn’t seem to have taken much part in the team’s training session.
However, AS Roma youngster Afena Gyan Felix looks favourite to start for the Black Stars on Friday in an event that Jordan is unable to start.
Ghana will host Nigeria for the first leg of the final qualifying round at the Baba Yara sports stadium with the match starting at 19:30GMT.
