The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 tournament to be staged in India is six months away to kick off, and the world football governing body has announced that the draw for the final tournament will take place on Friday, June 24, 2022 in Zurich, Switzerland.
FIFA has as well confirmed Bhubaneswar, Goa and Navi Mumbai as the Host Cities for the tournament.
A total of six countries have already booked their place in the tournament, comprising Japan, Colombia, Brazil, New Zealand, China PR and Chile, along with hosts India. A total of 16 countries will be participating in the final tournament and with 7 spots filled, there are 9 more teams to secure their tickets to the tournament from five confederations including Africa, Central, North America and Caribbean and Europe.
The Black Maidens are in search for one of Africa’s three tickets to the tournament, but have four more matches to play and win before securing qualification. The Maidens will play against Guinea in the third round of the qualifiers, with the first leg coming off this Saturday, April 16, 2022 before the second leg in Cape Coast on April 30.
Should the Black Maidens conquer Guinea in the third round over the two legs, they will progress to the fourth and final round of the qualifying phase, and an aggregate win over the two legs in the fourth round will mean that Ghana would secure qualification to India.
The tournament has been scheduled to take place between 11 and 30th October this year.
