Muntari and Inkoom have made the GPL more attractive – Akuffo gives reasons

Former Asante Kotoko player, Michael Akuffo has expressed elation with the move of former Black Stars duo, Sulley Muntari and Samuel Inkoom into the Ghana Premier League.

According to ex-Porcupine, the duo seems to have brought back the joy and the passion into the Ghana Premier League after returning from abroad to join Hearts of Oak.

Their arrival is gradually changing the face of the league with the fans visiting the match venues in numbers especially when the Phobians are playing at the Nation’s Wembley, Accra Sports Stadium.

In previous seasons, the match venues during those years get filled up in the early hours before kickoff because of the high-profile footballers who dedicated their passion and love to the local league.

Nowadays, the story has changed; caused by player exodus in which the stars and great talents cannot play for long.

The coming back of the professional players to compete in the topflight league will help to revive the passion, joy, and love of the game as stated by the former Asante Kotoko skipper.

After the injured King Faisal captain, Akuffo who also played for Asante Kotoko between 2011 and 2017 was asked to give an account of the presence of our living legends in the GPL, he stuck out his neck to state that their inclusion has drawn back some happiness and has made the league more attractive.

“I am not surprised. We are all working. Someone may love a team but you might leave. Even Messi left Barcelona for PSG upon all his love. I am not surprised because it is his job and whoever wants you that’s where you will be. In life, you have to be where people cherish you.”

“I am not surprised but I am happy for them because they’ve brought some joy into the league, especially Sulley Muntari and Inkoom. They’ve done so much. It motivates the boys they train with. They believe that they can also be like them. Most Ghanaians don’t appreciate what these guys have brought into our league. All that they will talk about is the negative aspect of them that they are old. Those are the things that discourage some players, especially the experienced ones who are willing to play in our league because they won’t come for the young ones to discourage them. For Sulley and Inkoom they’ve brought so much into the league because some people will go and watch Hearts of Oak because of Sulley Muntari and Inkoom. Is a big thing am very happy for Sammy.”
