Ghana Premier League now better than before -Former Ashanti Gold Coach Ernest Thompson compares

Ex-Ashantigold head coach, Ernest Thompson says there has been an improvement in the ongoing Ghana Premier League as compared to the previous season.

He admits that the current season can boast of more changes, the approach of coaches, their qualities, and their experience unlike that of last season.

Coach Thompson told Ghanasportspage.com in an interview that the league has improved following a great job from the football governing body, GFA, and CAF for the series of coaching courses and workshops to bring an improvement.

“If you ask me to rate the current league as compared to the previous season we know that the FA and CAF have brought a lot of improvement because a series of coaching courses and workshops have been going on and the coaching qualities in Ghana have improved very well.

“Some of us who were the first CAF license coaches in Africa, the likes of Kwasi Appiah, Silas Tetteh, and others I think that we have gathered a lot of experience.

“We have what it takes to handle our affairs at the national team so am happy our own has been brought into the Black Stars that’s why there is an improvement in the league because the coaches are learning a lot and there’s been an improvement in the systems, improvement in their approach to the game and since the game has become scientific that aspect has been added on so there’s been an improvement as compared to the previous seasons. A lot of good defending, and a lot of goal scoring is going on but there’s still a lot to be done if we want to make waves in Africa as we were doing previously but so far so good it’s not been bad this season, and the previous ones but there’s has been an improvement with certain new additions and subtractions in the game.” He concluded.
