Four football clubs in Sekondi Takoradi, Sekondi Hasaacas, Sekondi Eleven Wise FC and Skyy FC will compete in a four-team competition dubbed Nana Akwasi Mensah Cup in honour of recently deceased sports journalist and staff of Takoradi based Skyy Media.
The competition being organized by Skyy Media Group led by former Asante Kotoko centre back, Joseph Hendricks, will see two times league champions Sekondi Hasaacas battle three other clubs, Eleven Wise, Skyy FC and Future Stars for the memorial trophy.
The competition will be played at the Sekondi Gyandu Park, starting from the semi final stage with the winners of the first matches advancing to the final. The objective is to raise funds from the gate proceeds to set up a foundation in aid of the immediate family left behind by the late Nana Akwasi Mensah.
The hard working sports journalist, who also worked with Silver FM (Takoradi) in his radio career, died recently aged 33, leaving behind a wife with unborn child, following their marriage less than a year ago before his untimely death in early May this year in Kumasi after a short illness.
The matches will be played on Sunday, May 15, 2022, starting from 1:00pm. There will be three matches in all.
