Ghana’s Black Starlets preparations for the next month’s Under-17 WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations and GFA/ UEFA Assist 4-Nations Tournament in Ghana have run into troubled waters as several players penciled to prosecute the tournament have failed the mandatory MRI age test by CAF barely three weeks to the tournament.

www. ghanasportspage.com can authoritatively reveal that more than half of the Starlets team currently at Prampram with members of the first team can no more be part of the team.

This development has thrown the team’s coaching crew led by Paa Kwasi Fabin into deep crisis with just three weeks to select a brand new squad to fly the country’s flag at the WAFU Zone B U-17 Cup of Nations which will be held in Cape Coast- Ghana, from the 11th June to 24th June 2022.

From what we gathered, only about 15 players are left in camp, with the over 20 players left in limbo and being sent home today. “They failed the MRI test but were mainly the players the coach was seriously banking on for the competition, the team has been killed with this development,” a top source told Ghanasportpage.com

They will now have to pack out of the team’s camp in Prampram and head home completely devastated after their hopes were dashed. The FA is said to be shocked by this and is conveying an emergency meeting with the Black Starlets Management Committee and the technical team to plan the way forward.

Black Starlets have been paired with Nigeria and Togo in group A.

Another group including Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Niger will battle it out in Group B.

The winner of the tournament will qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria.
