Ankaragücü playmaker, Kwabena Owusu has declared himself as the best Ghanaian striker currently playing abroad.

The 24-year-old forward is still aiming to make Ghana’s squad since the 2019 AFCON where he played at his maiden tournament with the Black Stars after passing through Ghana’s junior teams.

Owusu made his debut for Ghana national football team on 15 June 2019 in a friendly against South Africa.

As compared to the current Black Stars’ attackers, Owusu has the numbers that guide him to get his national team spot in terms of goals scored this season.

He bagged 10 goals in the just-ended campaign, 7 in the TFF 1 League, and the other 3 in the Turkish Cup. He also made 4 assists out of 23 matches this season.

To rate with goals, the former U-23 player and Ludogorets Razgrad’s Bernard Tekpetey are guaranteed to be with the national team if it counts.

Speaking about his Black Stars snub, the Turkish-based forward expressed worries but still aiming to break through whiles he declared himself to be the best Ghanaian striker currently playing in Europe.

“We are all Ghanaians and you be worried if you are not part of the team. No one will be happy if only he knows he is performing but always sit back for a national team call-up. Every player wants to play for his national team. Sometimes I feel pain. I normally think about it.

“I can’t say am better than most of the players. You are the people to judge the bad and the good. I can’t speak out based on performance.

“In terms of the national team, of course, I am the best Ghanaian striker playing in Europe.” He told Gideon Okyere Anim Gattuso on Accra-based Original 91.9FM.

“Not being part of the national team is part of football and also part of life. Maybe they’ve not spotted me. The time will come. He ended.

Kwabena Owusu, a debutant of the Black Stars at AFCON 2019 disclosed that each Black Stars player received $20,000 appearance fees for the competition played in Egypt.

After he had made this revelation, it led some of his teammates and other officials to show anger over the then Spanish-based forward.

Since then, he has suffered to earn his role back in the national team. Meanwhile, his U-23 team-mate Yaw Yeboah is currently with the squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and the Central African Republic.

Owusu was introduced into Ghana’s second group game against Cameroon as a substitute during the 2019 AFCON and he had a great performance as he came close by hitting the crossbar in their goalless with the Indomitable Lions.
