Former dormaa Nkyenkyenkye FC defender and Wamanafo Mighty Royals, Maxwell Agyemang scored an equalizing goal at Obuasi to help secured the 2021/2022 league title for Asante Kotoko otoko.
The former FC Nkyenkyenkye player was in the form of his life throughout the entire 90 minutes as he headed home the equalizer from Imoro Ibrahim brilliant free kick to level the scores at 1-1 as Kotoko secured their historic 25th league title.
Despite AshGold dominating with Yaw Annor’s eleventh minute classic strike, the Porcupines through a strike from Agyemang in the 67th minute levelled the game to share the spoils.
With three games left to wrap up the season, Kotoko have been officially declared as the winners of the league and will represent Ghana in Africa in the upcoming season.
They will be honored with the league title and other awards a week after their fixture against Elmina Sharks at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The highly rated center-back joined the Porcupines on a three-year deal in September last year from a Division One League side, Wamanafo Mighty Royals.
He was one of the best defenders during the 2020/21 season. He made 27 appearances, scored, 3 goals and provided 3 assists.
After joining the GPL record winners, he vowed to write his name in the history book of the club during an interview with the team’s media.
“I want to leave my name in Kotoko and also leave in the Ashanti community because I will encourage my self at this place.
“I will make sure to fight hard to win trophies. I will write my name here before I leave the club. I promise everyone to be one of the best center-backs. Agyemang vowed after joining Kotoko in 2021.
It will be recalled that the 25-year-old player has fulfilled his promise after scoring the equalizer in their 1-1 stalemate with Ashantigold last afternoon.
