A press release from the management of former Accra Hearts of Oak forward, Benjamin Afutu Kotey has denied reports indicating his contract with the Egyptian club Eastern Company SC has been terminated.
It was reported on Wednesday that the board of the Eastern Company Football Club has terminated the contract of Ghanaian midfielder Benjamin Afutu following an unimpressive performance from the Ghanaian international.
With the letter received from the player’s management, Ghanasportspage.com can exclusively clear off Afutu’s rumor of contract termination.
The management through the letter stated, “We have observed with great concern some news item in the media which suggest that the contract between Eastern Company FC and Benjamin Kotey Afutu has been terminated.”
“We, therefore, write to set the record straight.
- That no such termination has occurred
- That it is untrue that the reason for the termination of the contract is a result of the player’s
poor performance. - That the Club (Eastern Company) has failed to perform many of its obligations under the contract signed by the parties.
- That the player was recalled back to Ghana by his management to ensure all obligations are fulfilled by Eastern Company before any further decision is made.
“We would therefore like to use this opportunity to thank all and sundry for the interest shown in Benjamin Kotey Afutu’s career and promise that his return in due course will be bigger and better.”
