Accra Lions failed to take home advantage as they were held at the Accra Sports Stadium by Asante Kotoko in their final fixture of the Ghana Premier League.
A goal each from Samari Salifu in the 53rd minutes and Samuel Boateng in the 86th minutes brought the curtains down on a game the hosts should have wrapped up with a goal victory despite confirming their stay weeks ago.
The visitors started the game on the front foot with Etouga Mbella squandering all the chances, before the host came up front with the lead in the second half.
A resilient performance from Samuel Boateng earned the GPL Champions a point to climax what has been a successful campaign at the Accra Sports Stadium.
However, the ‘Golden Boot’ race has become keener after Mbella failed to add up to his 21 goals to break Ishmael Addo’s record. Yaw Annor of Ashantigold SC will hope to bag brace to surpass the Cameroonian attacker to achieve the award on Sunday.
