Former Black Stars boss, C.K Akonnor has turned his lips on Hearts of Oak and Kotoko’s quest for dominating in Africa again.
The former Ghana boss says the two GPL giants must prepare well to restore their dreams of becoming continental champions again.
The two clubs have set their sights on recapturing their glory days following their success’ in the local league and the FA Cup to book tickets for the CAF inter-club competitions after the just ended season.
Both teams have struggled to shine in African football after their unforgettable CAF Confederations Cup final where Hearts of Oak defeated Kotoko to lift the title in a penalty shootout.
CK Akonnor, who coached the Porcupines during the 2018/19 season has tasked the two most successful Ghanaian clubs to strengthen their preparations before they can dominate again.
Nevertheless, he reacted to some tricks used by the North African clubs, saying it will soon fade out of the game following the fast growth of technology.
“It has been a while after Kotoko and Hearts dominated in Africa.
“If we are going back and want to do well, we have to prepare to know the quality materials, players who are capable of doing well at every occasion, players who can be managed in a very positive way and of course knowing your opponents. You can’t go in for a tournament without knowing what your opponents are capable of doing. Knowing them, you have to prepare very well so that you can also outsmart them.
“Some of the tricks in football will fade very soon because of technology. You will be caught when you do it and it won’t help.
“I don’t want to dwell too much on that.
“It is important to prepare. Prepare yourself very well before any other tough game. That will help you to make your things well,” Coach Akonnor told Ghanasportspage.com.
