Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak newly signed striker Abednego Tetteh has set for himself an ambitious target to carry the Phobians back to continental football before the expiration of his three-year deal with the 20 times league champions.

The surest striker, in an exclusive interview with ghanasportspage.com revealed, that the motive behind his unhesitating move to Hearts of Oak is to help the club return to either the CAF Champions League or the Confederation Cup competitions, where the Phobians have made enviable history back in the 2000s. According to him, his primary aim is to work in collaboration with his able teammates to move the club back to its glory days, and dominate in Africa with the CAF inter club competitions in sight.

“The reason why I signed for Hearts of Oak is only one thing; that is to go to Africa or go back to our past glories, that is my first target. Apart from that the rest are just a plus for me, what is more important to me is for the team to go back to its past glories, win cups and go to Africa again”, Abednego told ghanasportspage.com.

The former Bechem United, Al-Hilal Omdurman goal poacher is not just aiming for mere participation in CAF inter club competitions, but to at least win either the Champions League or the Confederation Cup once in the next three seasons. Accra Hearts of Oak as not won any CAF competition in the last 15 years after beating arch rivals Asante Kotoko to lift the Confederations Cup in 2005, and Abednego Tetteh believes it time to repeat the glorious feat achieved by their predecessors.

“I would be happy that Hearts of Oak plays in Africa throughout the three years I have signed for the club and win at least one”, he hoped.

Asked whether he wants Hearts to win the MTN FA Cup to secure ticket to the Confederation Cup competition or the Premier League and play in the Champions League, Abednego says he is open to any of the two and prays they win either the league or the FA Cup to secure the tickets for Africa.

Abednego Tetteh is among six other players; defender Nuru Sule, Nigerian striker Danjuma Ademola Kuti, Abdourahamane Lawali among others who joined the rainbow boys in the just ended second transfer window of the domestic league.
