Four times winners Ghana recorded their first win at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations by beating Guinea-Bissau 2-0 to reach the last 16. The Black Stars drew their first two matches, playing 2-2 in the opening match with Benin before drawing blank with Cameroon, finishing with a much needed 2-0 triumph over the Wild Dogs of Guinea-Bissau in group F on Tuesday.
The Cartage Eagles of Tunisia confirmed the round of sixteen clash with Ghana after drawing blank in their last group match with Mauritania to finish as runners-up in group E.
The Black Stars will lock horns with Tunisia in the round of 16 at the Ismailia stadium on Monday June 8. Ghana have been a thorn in the flesh of Tunisia at the Cup of Nations, having beaten the Cartage Eagles in five of their six meetings in the history of the AFCON with the last one coming in the quarter finals of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Equitorial Guinea/Gabon, where Ghana won 2-1 after extra time, thanks to a strike from Andre Ayew.
Ghana will look to continue their usual dorminance over the Cartage Eagles in their quest to end the 37-year AFCON trophy wait.
