Ghanaian captain Andre ‘Dede’ Ayew is likely to join his Al Sadd coach Xavi Hernandez in Barcelona during the transfer window in January after the appointment of the former Spanish international as their new boss following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

According to Ghanaian sports journalist, Isaac Ganyo Tamakloe the attacker’s performance in Qatari side Al Sadd has impressed the former Spanish international Xavi Hernandez during his managerial days in Al Sadd and could join his former boss very soon.

The 31-year-old left English Championship side Swansea City FC after aiding them to the play-off final in the English Championship where they lost 2-0 to Brentford FC.

Ayew ended the 2020/2021 season as top scorer of Swansea City with 17 goals scored in 46 games.

The Black Stars skipper in the 2019/2020 season was also the top scorer and best player of Swansea after netting 16 goals in 46 appearances.

Ayew’s form in Swansea was phenomenal despite failing to join the English top flight from the Championship.

Andre Ayew has been in a terrific form under Coach Xavi scoring six goals in seven appearances in the ongoing campaign guiding the club together with Xavi to win the Emir Cup in Qatar recently.

He has a tight relationship with the ex-Spanish skipper since his days in Swansea.

Andre Ayew is under 2-years contract with Al Sadd.

The 31-year-old leaves Europe for the first time in his career to join the record 15-time Qatar league winners after his service in France, England, and Turkey. He earns $220,000 (€186,514.39) a month.

Ayew led the Ghana U-20 team to win the African Youth Championship and the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009. He was honoured as BBC African Footballer Of The Year 2011.
