Asante Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu has emphasised the importance of star striker Sogne Yacouba to the course of Asante Kotoko ahead of the new football season.
Asante Kotoko has endured a hostile atmosphere with the Burkinabe striker over renewal of his contract and despite the contract running out, Yacouba has always declined to renewing his contract with the Porcupine Warriors.
However, newly appointed coach of the club Maxwell Konadu has admitted there are issues between the player and the club which are being dealt with, but was quick to state the importance of Yacouba to the course of the club especially at this time when the club wants to win the 2019/2020 league title.
According to Maxwell, the issues with Yacouba has to do with attitude but the club is on course to settle everything with the club’s talisman.
“Normally every good player is wanted by a great club, he is not a bad player and since I came the little I have heard is about attitude issues, but saying that in football any issue can be resolved unless of course the club has taken a discision that its about time we stop following it, but then it is not a big issue”, Maxwell Konadu told FOX FM in an interview on Thursday.
The Black Stars B manager heaped praises on Yacouba and emphasized on his importance to Asante Kotoko. “He is a fantastic player and he is in TOP FORM that a team like Kotoko will need his service, there is no doubt about that, all will depend on how the club will talk with the player. ” he stated.
Sogne Yacouba’s contract with Asante Kotoko ends on 23rd February, 2020 and he can only be eligible for registration for the 2019/2020 league season for Kotoko if he renews his contract with the Baba Yara stadium side.
