Asante Kotoko target Paul Asare De-Vries has made known his burning desires to play in the 2020/2021 CAF inter club competition, being it the Confederation Cup or the Champions League, declaring himself available to the Porcupine Warriors and the Ashantigold Sporing Club who have secured tickets to represent Ghana in the two continental competitions respectively.
The former Wa All Stars (now Legon Cities FC) striker is back home now as a free agent after terminating his contract with Cypriot premier league side Küçük Kaymaklı Türk S.K due to the long absence of football in the country as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 24-year old nimble footed forward desires to make a return to the domestic league, but is desirable of moving to a club that can offer him continental football. Upon findings, ghanasportspage.com can disclose that the former Bechem Youngsters FC , Berlin FC star is on the wish list of Asante Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu who is currently in the transfer market making new signings to bolster his squad for the upcoming Champions League campaign.
Asare has proven instrumental for the North Cyprus side Küçük Kaymaklı, four times champions of the North Cyprus premier league side, scoring a total of 27 goals during his stay at the club. He found the net 12 times in his first season, and 15 times in the second season before the outbreak of the covid-19. Speaking exclusively to ghanasportspage.com, Paul Asare De-Vries disclosed his readiness to play in the domestic league for a while before thinking of traveling abroad.
“Now I’m back to Ghana, I terminated my contract because of the covid-19 so I’m back to Ghana”, Paul revealed. “For now I don’t know how the covid-19 issues will go so once I’m back to Ghana I will play here for some time before”, he announced.
Asked about the club he wishes to play for in the local league, Paul revealed his desire to play in Africa and that his decision will be influenced by continental football. Meanwhile, he availed himself for either Asante Kotoko or Ashantigold SC who are representing Ghana in the continent’s inter club competitions.
“For now like my personal aim is that if I will play in the Ghana Premier League then I will be glad to have the chance to play Africa or the Confederation Cup, maybe Kotoko or Ashgold any of them that will approach me, I will work with them. If (Asante) Kotoko comes I will play, if Ashgold comes too I will not turn them down”, he maintained.
The nimble footed attacker has always been a nightmare for defenders on the field of play, and with his potency in front of goal, a move to any club in the domestic league will prove worthy and contribute to the attacking prowess in the league.
