Ashantigold head coach Roberto Landi is expected to arrive at the club this week ahead of the 2020/2021 league season which is set to start in October, all things being equal.
The Italian coach has been out of the country following the cancellation of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country, and has since been in his hometown. With contact sports currently on suspension in the country as a measure against the spread of the covid-19 disease, football activities at club level are on hold whiles clubs keenly await for government to lift the restrictions on the sports.
Ashgold will be representing Ghana in the 2020/2021 CAF Confederation Cup competition, and are poised to begin training as soon as government allows. While waiting for the lifting of the restrictions, the Miners have already prepared flight tickets for their coach to return to the club for work to resume immediately. Speaking to ghanasportspage.com, the Communications Manager of the club Eric Karikari revealed that all flight tickets for the coach’s arrival has been made available by the club and Landi is expected to arrive by Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
“We are waiting for our coach (Roberto Landi) to arrive this week. We’ve made his (flight) tickets available for him and he will come down this week, latest by 16th”, Eric confirmed.
The club is currently almost done with all signings it intends to make before the Confederation Cup competition gets underway, but are presently busy working out all CAF requirements in terms of club licensing policies for clubs that participate in the continental competitions.
