Black Stars B head coach Maxwell Konadu has appointed Ashantigold SC striker Shafiu Mumuni as captain of the team ahead of the CHAN qualifier match against Burkina Faso and the upcoming WAFU tournament in Senegal early next month.
The Ashantigold SC forward shall we be in command as he wears the captain’s armband for the Black Stars B team as they host Burkina Faso on Sunday in first leg of the final qualifying round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Shafiu will be deputized by Asante Kotoko goalkeeper and captain Felix Annan as first vice captain, followed by Hearts of Oak captain Fatawu Mohammed as the second vice captain for the Black Stars B.
Ghana has failed to qualify for the last two editions of the CHAN tournament, and coach Maxwell Konadu will count on the quality of the squad at his disposal and the leadership of his astute captain to rewrite the story for Ghana for the tournament in Cameroon between January and February next year.
Shafiu is also expected to lead the team to defend the WAFU tournament which kicks off on September 28 in Senegal.
