Black Queens midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe inks maiden professional contract with Sky Blue FC

Ghana midfield enforcer Jennifer Cudjoe has joined the National Women’s Soccer League giants Sky Blue FC based in Harrison, New Jersey ahead of the UTAH 2020 Challenge Cup which kicks off on June 27 and ends on July 26.

The 26-year old Black Queens midfielder has gone through the college system in the States, where her exceptional talent earned her a pre-professional contract with NWSL side from USL League club Asheville, where her performance earned her a place in the club’s team of the decade.

Cudjoe’s move to Sky Blue FC is her first professional contract with a club after completing college, and has become the first Ghanaian player to go through college and play at the professional level in the National Women’s Soccer League after Black Queens skipper Elizabeth Addo who played for Seattle Reign in the year 2018.

Jennifer Cudjoe joins Sky Blue FC from the University of Maine at Fort Kent, and while confirming the deal in an exclusive interview with ghanasportspage.com, Cudjoe expressed her delight for the achievement, describing it as a “dream” she’s been pursuing since age 13.

“I just signed my first professional contract with Sky Blue FC which is one of the top teams in the United States”, she confirmed.

According to her, the move is a dream come true and she is very happy for the opportunity to play in the National Women’s Soccer League. “It’s been a dream I’ve had since I was like 13, to be able to play this league and then start my professional career here. I am super excited and words won’t be enough to describe how I feel”, she expressed.

Cudjoe, feeling gratified by her achievement, expressed her undiluted gratitude to her maker, family, coaches, friends and fans whose help aided her en-rout to this dream land.

“A very big thank you to God, family, coaches, friends and fans who helped me through this journey to make the dream I started pursuing at the age of 13 come to a reality”, she said.
