Ashgold SC Confederations Cup opponents RS Berkane caught in a state of instability as confusion broke up among the players during training on Thursday as star striker Alain Traore walked off training in anger after stern confrontation with his team mate, Djibril Ouattara.
The Moroccan side have been training at the Opoku Ware school park in Kumasi ahead of the Friday encounter with Ashgold at the Obuasi sports stadium, but their training on Thursday was interrupted with heated conflict between former Monaco, Kayserispor striker Alain Traore and team mate Djibril Ouattara. The cause of the argument remains unclear, but watching from afar, the ex Burkinabe U-17 star Traore seemed fumed as he was not receiving passes from Ouattara as he expected.
Traore was being talked to to calm down by his coach Munir Jaouani but he brushed the coach away and shoved off every single team mate who tried to calm him down. He took off the training bib and threw it away, removed his boots, shin guards threw them away and walked off the training.
Traore refused to return to the training as his teammates trained to the end.
All attempts by clubs officials present to resolve the issue proved futile till the team joined the team bus after the training and drove off to the Golden Tulip Hotel, where they’ve been lodging.
For the records, Alain Traore was intergral member of the Burkina Faso squad that played at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, and was the hero after scoring a sublime goal against the Black Stars of Ghana at the Stade de Port Gentil in the third place match where they beat Ghana to win bronze.
