Hours to a said debate being organised by Global Media Alliance, Global Media Alliance, and Ghana Broadcasting Corporation for the Presidential candidates of the Ghana Olympics Committee (GOC) ahead of the polls, incumbent President, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah has told ghanasportspage.com that he is officially not aware of such debate being organised.
The said debate is to take place on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Global Media Alliance premises in Accra at 7:00 p.m between the two presidential candidates; Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah, the incumbent, and new aspirant aspirant Richard Akpokavie, who happens to be the Secretary of the outgoing administration.
Reports as of Tuesday, March 9 indicated, that Mr Nunoo Mensah’s camp had advised him not to participate in the debate as they deem it not necessary at this material time for an election which involves only 64-member delegates. However, it looks different from his own words in an interview with Ghana’s leading sports news outlet.
“Nobody has told me of any debate”, Ben Nunoo Mensah told ghanasportspage.com in an exclusive interview. “Has anybody told us of any debate? When did I write taking part and when did I write pulling out of any debate? Nobody has told me of any debate, I have no letter written to me to that effect”, he said.
The 2021 GOC elections has been slated for to take place on 15th March 2021.
