Accra Hearts of Oak have been mourning the tragic passing of their “passionate supporter” Shomo Quaye whose dear life came to a catastrophic end after being knocked down by a speeding car.
The committed Phobian died on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 late night at Bohyen, a suburb in Kumasi in the Ashanti region after being knocked down by a car on his way from a match viewing centre, where he had gone to watch the first half of the UEFA Champions League Semi final match between Beyern Munich and Olympique Lyonnais.
According to witnesses, the late Quaye was at the said match centre and watched the first half with the others present, but decided to go home to rest just after the first half of the match. The said match viewing centre is said to be very close to the street, near a curve, and while Shomo Quaye tried crossing to the other side of the road, the speeding sprinter with a reported registration number AS 9346 -11 ran straight into him, knocking him off the road into a gutter.
He was pronounced dead after being rushed to Accidents and Emergency Unit of the Komofo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
The tragic news hit the Phobian family so hard and the club has taken to their Twitter account and other social media platforms to mourn the tragic passing of their staunch fan, extending condolences to his family.
“The Board, management, technical, playing body and NCC of Accra Hearts of Oak is saddened to hear of the passing of our passionate supporter, Shamo Quaye in Kumasi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family at this very difficult moment”, the club wrote on Twitter.
