Premier League club Accra Hearts of Oak’s number one shot stopper Richard Atta has signed new deal with the club which will tie him to the Accra based side till 2023, the club has announced.
Hearts of Oak announced the signing Richard Atta from Elmina Sharks on December 1, 2019, but after spending just a season with the club, Atta has extended his stay at the club for two more seasons, keeping him tied to the club contractually till 2023.
The Phobians announced the contract extension via their official twitter handle on Tuesday.
“@HeartsOfOakGH is happy to announce that goalkeeper Richard Attah has extended his contract to 2023.”, the club announced.
The young, stoutly built and exuberant goalkeeper earned a maiden call up to the senior national team, the Black Stars in March this year, but is yet to make his national debut for Ghana. Atta was one of three local players named in coach CK Akonnor’s maiden call ups as Black Stars head coach, when he named his 23-man squad for Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Sudan. The match did not come on due to the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic which forced CAF to suspend the qualifying matches.
Richard Atta’s national team debut has been on hold since, but as the number one in the post for Hearts of Oak, he has been a brick wall in the post for the Phobians during the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season before its eventual cancellation due to the coronavirus disease. Atta has been a star performer for Hearts of Oak and the extention of his contract brings great signs of success for the club heading into the 2020/2021 football season.
