Black Satellites team will play against Cameroon today in the quarter-final of the AFCON U-20 championship ongoing in Mauritania.
Cameroon has been one of the best performing countries in the tournament and Black Satellites of Ghana will definitely have to step up their game to achieve semifinal berth.
The match is between Group C’s third best placed Ghana and Cameroon who qualified on top of Group A winning all three matches in the group stages.
Ghana had a brilliant start to the competition with a 4-0 victory over Tanzania and drew 0-0 with Morocco in their second group game and lost their last game 2-1 against the Gambia. Ghana finished 3rd in Group C with 4 points.
Cameroon also won their first game, a 1-0 win against Mauritania and another 1-0 victory over Uganda in the second game before an impressive 4 – 1 win over Mozambique in their last game to finish first in Group A with 9 points.
Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu believes that if Ghana can qualify, Coach Karim Zito has a lot of work to do to shape the Ghana’s team as they play against Cameroon.
Speaking about the epic game today in an exclusive interview with Nimde3 FM, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu said, Coach Karim Zito has a lot of work to do today against Cameroon looking at how poorly the team performed against the Gambians.”
“But one thing that will work for Ghana in today’s game is the name the Cameroonians are bringing on board. Ghana always perform well against the big guns but found wanting against the so-called minnows.”
“Difficult game today, but Ghana can win,” he added.
Emmanuel Agyemang Badu was a member of the Black Satellites team that won the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament.
