Hearts of Oak qualified for the quarter-final of the 2021 MTN FA Cup after beating Division One campaigners Young Wise 1-0 at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Wednesday.
A 68th-minute goal by Daniel Afriyie Barnieh from the penalty spot was enough to seal a quarter-final berth for the Phobians.
The Phobians were far from an efficient attacking unit with faulty passes their major hallmark in most part of the first half as they failed to break Young Wise’s defence.
Striker Abednego Tetteh scored a perfect goal in the first half but the referee whistled for an offside.
Afriyie Barnieh broke the deadlock for the Phobians in the 68th-minute after he was brought down in the 18-yard box. Barnieh stepped up and struck home from the penalty spot.
Young Wise responded very well after going a goal down as they had their fair share of possessive football but the attacking prowess proved futile.
